Psychiatric
Treatment Counselors help children or adolescents participating in our
Residential Psychiatric Treatment Program to develop the skills and
behaviors necessary to reside in less-restrictive settings.
Pre-screening Qualifications: High School Diploma / GED; two years experience residential child care and / or college; 21 years of age or older; clean driving record; valid Alaska driver’s license; and the demonstrated ability to: relate positively to children with severe emotional problems, engage in vigorous physical activity, and communicate effectively in English (oral and written). |
Activity
Therapists work one-on-one or in a group setting with
children/adolescents participating in our community-based programs,
helping them develop the appropriate skills and behaviors that will
prevent them from being placed in more restrictive settings. Pre-screening qualifications: High School Diploma / GED; two years experience direct care human service and / or college; valid Alaska driving license; use of an insured vehicle; a clean driving record; 21 years of age or older; and the demonstrated ability to: relate positively to children with severe emotional problems, engage in vigorous physical activity, communicate effectively in English (oral and written), work independently. |

Therapeutic
Foster Parents provide foster care for children and adolescents with
emotional and/or behavioral problems, helping them develop the skills
and behaviors necessary for them to reside in a less restrictive
setting. Foster parents
with Alaska Children’s Services receive: a generous, tax-free stipend;
training; case management, crisis intervention, activity therapy
support; and paid respite. All
foster parents are an integral part of the child’s treatment team.
